History of Music Depot:

Music Depot was started in 1997 by Dave Dechant.  It was purchased in 1999 by Mark Payne and at that time it was on 16th Street.  It moved to its current location in Cottonwood Square in 1999.  The space that it occupied was formerly Cottonwood Florist which had moved. However, the flower coolers provided a nice foundation for some lesson rooms.

In a weird coincidence Jen was recommended to Mark, by a mutual friend, to help fulfill his bookkeeping needs.  She started in 2009.  Mark and Jen were already long-time friends at that point, having met at church in 1985.

In 2015 Mark purchased Yocum Music in Cheyenne.  He operated it until 2018 and sold it to its manager and it became WYO Music.

When Mark decided to retire in 2018, he put feelers out about selling the store, but Jen and her husband decided that she would make the life altering decision to purchase it.

The purchase was finalized on September 27th, 2019:

Right before the stinking pandemic.  The good news then, was that it afforded her time to work on the remodel.

I wish I could show you the Website - Before and After - but you're reading this so you can see we've been working on it.

We also expanded to the space next door allowing us to move our Band and Orchestra shop over there giving them some much needed space!!  I'm only going to answer this once...We didn't put a hole in the wall between the two shops because we would have to save the brick and patch it up if we move.  1960's Brick saving??? Ummmm No... sorry!  Regardless of our door count our employees can help you with whatever you need in either side.  Just enjoy the extra steps for your step counter...
