Parker Lewis is a versatile musician, educator, and researcher with a diverse background in jazz,
classical music, and other genres. He has performed in various settings, from live cover band gigs in
the Denver Metro area to jazz and country albums, and has recorded on big band projects and as a guest
trumpeter for Pieces of a Dream. Holding a BM in Jazz Studies and an MM in Trumpet Performance,
Parker is currently pursuing a Doctor of Arts in Jazz Studies at the University of Northern Colorado.
With over a decade of teaching experience, he offers private lessons in trumpet, music theory, and jazz
performance, mentoring students who have earned scholarships and assistantships. As an emerging
scholar, Parker’s research explores the socio-political impacts of multicultural music, the integration of
jazz theory into trumpet technique along with separate studies on trumpet technique itself. He is also
researching Boysie Lowery’s approach to teaching jazz improvisation.

         Jakob has been the principle tubist for the UNC Symphony Orchestra as well as the UNC Wind Ensemble.  He has also played the bass trombone in the UNC Symphony Orchestra,Wind Ensemble, and Lab 2 Jazz Band.  Jakob loves teaching and wants to help other reach their potential and find their passion.
